FORMER SPENNYMOOR MAN WINS PRIVATE AMBULANCE CONTRACT

The firm founded and owned by a former Spennymoor man, has just been awardec a major contract to provide ambulance transport for a hospital at Washington. Wayne Hall lived in Spennymoor for 21 years and most of his family still live in the town. Wayne recently moved to the Newton Aycliffe area . He and his fiancee own and operate Medical Services (North East) Limited, which provides numerous training courses such as first aid at Work (hse), Child Care first aid, Fire Safety servicing, risk assessments and training, Occupational Health Services and also operate a Private Ambulance Service. The company was established just over 5 years ago and over the past 18 months has achieved considerable success. In April 2006, they took over a Private Ambulance company in Newton Aycliffe and now thE company are the largest and busiest Private Ambulance Service in the North-East, completing more than 5,500 patient transfers during 2006. Recently, the BUPA Hospital at Washington won a contract from the government to treat 15,000 NHS patients from our region at their facilities over the next 12 months and Wayne's Company has been given the contract to provide the Ambulance transport for them "The BUPA contract is one of the most significant things to happen to the health service for many years," says Wayne. "Medical Services (North East) Limited are approved by the British Ambulance Association, have the Investor In People Award which was successfully rechecked in April 2007 and are approved by the Health an Safety Executive for first aid training," he says. We strongly believe in providing thE highest level of service and also encourage all our staff to take part in vocational training." Wayne points out that his staff have also successfully passed a number certificated vocational training courses. "We are currently in talks with Sedgefield Borough Council and a third party regarding moving my company to Spennymoor due to expansion and hope to create a training centre and ambulance station at Spennymoor in the near future," he says.
